James Oliver Stumbo

James Oliver Stumbo, of Williamson, W.Va., passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at his residence.
He was born on the Fourth of July, 1921, at Printer, a son of the late Joe Kendall Stumbo and Tina Martin Stumbo, originally of Printer.
Mr. Stumbo was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Doris Wallen Stumbo. He is survived by his sister, Audrey Stumbo Gunnell, of Printer; two sons, James William (Rosemary) Stumbo, of Parkersburg, W.Va., Joe David Stumbo, of Sarasota, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Kelly Nicole Stumbo (Kevin) Bos and Amy Stumbo (Jason) Burge, both of Sarasota, Fla.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Judi Stumbo.
He retired from Columbia Natural Resources as the Area Superintendent of Operations, in Kermit, W.Va. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served with the 3184th Signal Service Battalion in France, Belgium and Germany (Rhineland Campaign). James was a 32nd-degree Mason and a Shriner for well over 50 years. He was an avid bird hunter in his early days in Kentucky, and thoroughly enjoyed fishing later in his life. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Temple, in Williamson, W.Va.
Funeral services for James Oliver Stumbo will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Ron Sanger officiating. Burial will follow in Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, with the Hall Funeral Home caring for those arrangements.
Visitation is Saturday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., at Hall Funeral Home.
