HINDMAN - Knott County Central, the frontrunner in the 14th Region, turned back Allen Central Wednesday night, rolling to an 80-29 victory over the Rebels.
The win pushed the Patriots to 24-5 overall. Knott County Central owns the 14th Region’s best record.
Following the loss, Allen Central slipped to 5-22. The Rebels dropped their 11th straight game.
A dozen different Knott County Central players broke into the scoring column. Sophomore guard Camron Justice paced the Patriots with a game-high 17 points. Chance Cornett scored 13 points and fellow sophomore forward Simon Christon tossed in 12 for the Patriots.
Knott County Central moved out in front early, outscoring Allen Central 28-6 in the first quarter.
The Patriots packed a 46-18 lead into halftime and led 64-21 at the end of the third quarter.
Evan Hall, Blake Shrum and Ben Mosley aided the Knott County Central offensive effort with six points apiece.
Allen Central didn’t have any players reach double figures in the scoring column. Narrowly missing double figures, sophomore guard Mason Nelson netted nine points for the Rebels. Senior forward Josh Wiley scored seven points and freshman guard Seth Hall added five for the Allen Central boys’ basketball team.
Devon Horn (three points), Cameron Hamilton (two points), Zach Layton (two points) and Jordon Patton (one point) also provided scoring for the Rebels.
Allen Central will visit Lawrence County Friday night. The two 15th Region teams are slated to hook up in a regular-season finale.
