CHARLESTON — You can get the brooms back out.

It was another sweep.

The Logan-based Cheeriffic All-Star cheerleaders took four first places at Sunday’s Jamfest Lite Series event at the Charleston Civic Center.

Cheeriffic won firsts in the Level 1 Tiny, Level 2 Mini, Level 2 Small Youth and Level 3 Youth Cheer divisions.

All four Cheeriffic squads dazzled the crowd of an estimated 3,000 with an array of toe touches, back handsprings, cartwheels, front punches, pyramids and basket tosses.

Sunday’s event, which attracted more than 70 squads from West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and Virginia, served as a tune-up for Cheeriffic’s four squads.

That’s because all four squads had already qualified for two national tournaments – March 9-10 at the Universal Cheer Association (UCA) Nationals in Orlando, Fla., and April 13-14 at the U.S. Finals in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Cheeriffic girls are making a habit of taking home the trophy hardware.

In the previous Jamfest Supernational event last month in Indianapolis, all four Cheeriffic teams earned first-place finishes.

With Sunday’s results in Charleston, it’s now two sweeps in a row and eight straight first-place wins.

The Cheeriffic Tiny team took first in its nine-team division.

Cheeriffic beat out: The Tumble World Dream Achievers from Chesapeake, Ohio; the CTA High Flyer Twinkles of Morgantown; the Champs Central Glimmer squad of Clarksburg; the Xtreme All-Stars Energy team of Louisa, Ky.; the Twin City Stars Twinkles squad of Marmet; and Twist, Shout and Cheer team from Mount Sterling, Ky.

In the Mini Cheer division: Cheeriffic won over the Xtreme All-Stars Lightling team of Louisa and the Tumble World Dream Catchers of Chesapeake.

The Cheeriffic Level 2 Small Youth team took top honors in its nine-team division, beating out: the Belfry All-Stars of Belfry, Ky.; the Wyoming East All-Starz of Mullens; the New River Rock Solid team of Oak Hill; the Spirit All-Stars of Comfort; the West Virginia Storm All-Stars Thunder team of Charleston; the Fame All-Stars Diamonds squad of Roanoke, Va., and Twist, Shout and Cheer of Mount Sterling.

In the Youth Level 3 division, Cheeriffic won over the CTA High Flyers First Class squad of Morgantown.

The Cheeriffic All-Stars, made up of mostly Logan-area girls ages 5-and-up, are coached by Heather Bryant and Brittney Hartman. The team practices out of the Flip-N-Twist Gym in downtown Logan.

Cheeriffic now shifts its focus to the first of its two national tournaments – next month’s UCA Nationals at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.

Last year’s UCA Nationals attracted 350 squads and was truly an international event as cheerleading squads converged on Florida from such places as Vancouver, Canada and Tsukuba, Japan. Latin America was also well represented as teams came from Venezuela, Chile, Colombia, Panama, Ecuador and Costa Rica.

Last April, the Cheeriffic Tinys and Minis won national titles in the U.S. Cheer event which was held at Orlando’s Silver Spurs Arena.

The Tinys took last year’s Tiny Cheer national crown by winning in their 44-team division. Some of the competing teams came from such places as Nevada, California, Virginia, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Louisiana, Maryland, Arkansas, Kentucky and Ohio.

Last year’s Minis were national champions in the 22-team Mini Cheer division and beat squads from California, Louisiana, Alabama, Illinois, Delaware, Kentucky, New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Florida and Ohio.
