Brookview Elementary School bingo

Brookview Elementary School is sponsoring “Gift Card Bingo” on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 6 p.m. All proceeds will support the 5th grade grip and the “Respect and Protect” incentive.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets are available in the school office. Gift cards will include a gas card, Kroger card, Cabela’s card and more. Proceeds benefit the 5th grade trip and the Respect and Protect Incentive.

Library meeting

The Boone Madison Public Library Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at 4:30 p.m. Meetings are open to the public. For more information, call 304-369-7842.

Free screenings

Boone County Schools will offer free 3 to 5 year old screenings on Friday, March 8, 2013. The free screenings will be for developmental, vision, hearing, speech and language for Boone County children. Please call 304-369-8267 to schedule an appointment.

Ashford Nellis Neighborhood Watch

Ashford Nellis Neighborhood Watch will be Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m., Nellis Archives/Church Building.


There will be a community auction at the Orgas Community Center on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013. The bidding starts at 6 p.m., so come early to view the items. There will also be a concession stand serving hot dogs, BBQ’s, taco salad, nachos and cheese, homemade goodies and more. The Sylvester Assembly of God is sponsoring the event.

Seth Midget Football League

The SMFL is now accepting resumes for the following positions- A, B, & C team Football Head Coaches, A, B, & C team Cheerleading head coaches, as well as A, B, & C team Majorette head coaches. We will be accepting resumes until March 1, 2013. The board will be voting on all coaching positions at our monthly March meeting. You can send your resume to P.O. Box 255 Seth, WV 25181.

Cheerleading Competition

The Boone County Parks & Recreation Cheerleading Competition is set for Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at the Madison Civic Center. This event is sanctioned by the WVSSAC. If interested in entering your squad, please contact the Parks & Rec. office at 304-369-6125.

Madison Civic Center

The Madison Civic Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, for citizens to use to walk in this winter.

Veteran’s Memorial

Madison VFW Post 5578 is building a Veteran’s Memorial to honor mothers of veterans and veterans. Purchase a brick for $50.
