PIKEVILLE — Police continue to search for an inmate who escaped from the Pike County Detention Center last week.

According to Kentucky State Police, Jeremiah Young, 24, walked away from a work-release detail Thursday. Young is described as 6 feet tall and 160 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing green pants with the word “inmate” written on them.

Young is a Class D felon who was serving a four-year sentence, after being convicted of theft Feb. 9, 2011. In October of that year, he was given two additional two-year sentences, after being convicted of trafficking and promoting contraband. His earliest possible release date would have been Oct. 9, 2014.

KSP Public Information Officer Shaun Little said Tuesday that officers are continuing their search, following up on all possible locations.

Police are asking anyone with information on Young’s whereabouts to contact Kentucky State Police at (606) 433-7711 or (800) 222-5555.

This incident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Jamie Rose.
