Emanuel James “Bob” Gross, 85, of Hazard, died Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a self-employed businessman, owning Bob Gross Tire Service.
He was the son of the late Euless James Gross and the late Margaret Hickman Gross, and was also preceded in death by his brother, Odis Gross, and sister Ruth Gross.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Gross; daughter Joan Newberry and husband Franklin of East Bernstadt; brother Clyde Gross and wife Ola Mae of Louisville; grandchildren James Logan Fields of Hazard, Jonathan Matthews of Florida, Rebekah Hamilton of Florida, and Jared Newberry of Louisville; great-grandchildren Brittany Fields, Jaiden Fields, and Jonathan Feltner, all of Hazard; and great-great-grandchild Rowdy Logan.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, with additional services at 7 p.m. Services will begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24 at the Kelly Fork Church of God with Rev. Larry Hatton and Rev. Joe Asher officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Hazard. DAV rites will be administered by Hazard Chapter 64.
