LA CROSSE, Wis. — A former principal of The David School, who taught at the school for over 20 years, died Thursday, in Minnesota.


Sister Emma Kriz, 80, who began teaching in David in 1983 and served as the school’s principal from 1987 to 2005, and again from 2006 to 2008, had been making her home at St. Rose Convent, in La Crosse, since moving there due to health reasons in 2008.


Kriz entered the St. Rose Convent in 1947, making her profession of vows in 1952. She taught for 30 years in Iowa and Wisconsin before coming to Floyd County in 1983.


A prayer service will be held Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. in Mary of the Angels Chapel, in La Crosse. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, in the chapel. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in La Crosse.
