Ray Justice, 84 of Hardy, KY passed away Sunday; March 10, 2013 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, KY. Born January 16, 1929 in Pike County, KY; he was the son of the late Willie and Stella Hatfield Justice.


In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son Stephen Justice on March 5, 1975; and 2 brothers Willie (Abby) Justice Jr. and Homer Justice.


Ray was a gentle, kind, and humble man who was loved by all his family. He was united in marriage to Mildred Phillips on July 1, 1951. He especially loved children and they easily took up with him. Ray loved and obeyed the Lord (II John 9:12) and he read the Bible every day. He loved nature…..God’s work! He was a coon hunter and liked going to the stock market. He had many friends and he will be missed and in our hearts eternally.


He was a disabled coal miner and a faithful member of Caney Church of Christ.


Survivors include his wife Mildred Phillips Justice of Hardy, KY; his children Jane (Bob) Rutherford of Shelbyville, TN, Cheryl (Tilden) Staton of Russell Springs, KY, Sheila (Ted) Simpkins of Beech Creek, WV, David L. Justice of Hardy, KY, Ronald Justice of Hardy, KY, Rodney (Tina) Justice of Hardy, KY, and Philip Ray (Kelly) Justice of Hardy, KY; his grandchildren Michael Ray (Jessica) Justice, Serena (David) Kerr, Ted Drewey Simpkins Jr., John Ray (Crissy) Simpkins, David Kerry Justice, Shane Douglas Justice, Eve Arianna Justice, Paula (Johnny) Chapman, Rodney Stephen Justice, Cassie Marie Justice, and Philip Corey Justice; his great-grandchildren Shelby Dawn Rutherford, Austin Scott Kerr, Alyciah Drew Simpkins, Lily Tate Kimble, Jacob Anderson Justice, and Hannah Gregory; his brothers Bruce (Marie) Justice of Ransom, KY, Bob (Lois) Justice of Ransom, KY, Moscoe Justice of Ransom, KY, and Ernie (Ann) Justice of Hardy, KY; his sisters Mae (the late James) Dotson of Lexington, KY and Edna (Floyd) Dotson of Pinsonfork, KY; sister-in-law Betty Jo Justice of Ransom, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.


Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday; March 13, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY. Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery at Hardy, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.


Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place; Memphis, TN 38105.
