The Holden Pre-K (1) class of Eugenia Adams and Cora Perry grabbed a hat and wore their custom-made Cat in the Hat tee-shirts and read with “The Cat in the Hat” on Thursday, February 28, in celebration of Read Across America Day. This nationwide celebration of reading takes place each year, on or near the anniversary of the birth of beloved author Theodore Geisel, more well-known as Dr. Seuss. Students had fun reading “The Cat in the Hat”, playing phonemic awareness games, creating and presenting puppet shows, reciting various finger-plays and songs, creating creative drawings and paintings, and even dancing “The Freeze” with “The Cat in the Hat.” Parent volunteers Bethany Watson and Ashley Jackson helped students have a fun, learning day.
