A mother was arrested and charged with conspiracy to take property and accessory before the fact; her son was arrested and charged with grand larceny, robbery and impersonating an officer.

The criminal complaint filed in the Logan County Magistrate Court says West Virginia State Police officers responded to a robbery call from the Mt. Gay area on Sunday night. As they were en route, 911 advised the officers a man, later identified as Brandon James Williams, 27, of Verdunville, and a blond woman, later identified as Roberta Lee Tomblin, 44, of Mt. Gay, had robbed a man outside of Bill’s Lounge.

The victim gave the officers a handwritten statement, which said the two suspects approached him and Williams identified himself as an undercover officer and told the victim to empty his pockets on the hood of his car. The victim’s statement goes on to say Williams took the items and fled. The total value of the items was $1,000.

When Tomblin was found and brought back to Bill’s Lounge, the victim identified her as the woman who fled with Williams. She told officers Williams was her son. She was arrested and taken into custody.

Williams was also found and taken into custody.

In addition to the grand larceny, robbery and impersonating an officer charges, Williams is also facing charges in connection with a theft at Speedway at West Logan.

On February 21, an employee at the Speedway allowed Williams to use his cell phone, valued at $500. Williams fled the store with the phone.
