Birdie May, 84 of McAndrews, Ky., passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, in the emergency room of the Williamson Memorial Hospital.


She was born December 4, 1928, in Pike County, Ky., the daughter of the late Robert and Emma Bostic Vipperman.


She was also preceded in death by her husband, Olen May; sister, Bonnie Smith; half brother, Glen Vipperman; half sisters, Enis Dotson, Inis May and Eunice Hughes and one grandson.


She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.


Survivors include her children, Helen Jean Thompson of Acworth, Ga., Thomas Harold “Smiley” (Karen) May of Lascassas, Tenn., Connie Sue (Walter) Edwards of Pinsonfork, Ky., Cora Lyn (Charles) Anderson of Kimper, Ky. and Wilma Lea (Billy) Casey of McCarr, Ky.; sisters, Sylvia Justice, Virginia Smith and Elizabeth Vipperman; brother, Meldon Vipperman; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; special caretakers and friends, Donna Varney, Sherry Griffith and Barbara Phillips; and a host of other family and friends.


Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 15, at the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Gerria Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, Ky. Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Funeral Home Chapel with speical services both nights at 7 p.m.
