PIPPA PASSES - The Alice Lloyd baseball team won two of three games played against visiting Ohio Mid-Western over the weekend. More on the three-game series follows.
Game 1 - Alice Lloyd 3, Ohio Mid-Western 2: Host Alice Lloyd outlasted Ohio Mid-Western in eight innings, winning the first game 3-2. The Eagles walked off on a base hit in the eighth inning.
Catcher Cody Hyden drove in a run for the Eagles. Josh Mills registered the other RBI for Alice Lloyd in the hard-fought win.
Joey Stamper, Shane Pack and Ben Ray scored one run apiece for the Eagles.
Pitcher Wayne Sparks earned the win for the Alice Lloyd baseball team. Sparks went the distance, pitching all eight innings. He walked two and allowed two runs (both earned) on five hits. Sparks recorded nine strikeouts in the winning effort.
Game 2 - Alice Lloyd 5, Ohio Mid-Western 4: The Eagles edged Ohio Mid-Western for the second straight game, winning 5-4. Alice Lloyd owned a 4-1 lead before Ohio Mid-Western rallied.
Tanner Hensley led Alice Lloyd with two hits and three runs. Trae Minton and Shane Pack each had one RBI for the Eagles.
Ian Delaney pitched four innings, allowing only one run on four hits while walking two batters. Delaney registered three strikeouts.
Dylan Sullins and Chance Westerfield each pitched out of relief roles for the Eagles. Sullins and Westerfield combined to pitch one inning.
Game 3 - Ohio Mid-Western 4, Alice Lloyd 3: Visiting Ohio Mid-Western moved ahead in the fifth inning and held on to avoid a sweep, defeating Alice Lloyd 4-3.
Shane Pack and Greg Wright each had an RBI for the Eagles. Tanner Hensley, Josh Mills and Joey Stamper each scored a run for the Alice Lloyd baseball team.
Mackenzie Hicks pitched 3 and 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and three runs (all earned). He also walked four and had two strikeouts in his latest outing.
Daniel Burgess and Ryan Burrow pitched a combined 1 and 1/3 innings. They combined to surrender two hits and one run while walking three and striking out two.
Alice Lloyd is scheduled to host Brescia for a doubleheader Friday.
