Imogene Dixon Cornett, 92, died Sunday, March 17 at her residence in Viper.
She was born July 29, 1920, in Cornettsville, the daughter of the late J.P. Dixon and the late Mary Jane Fields Dixon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, S.J. Cornett; grandchild James Kyle Kelly; brothers Carl, Earl, Earnest, and Norvel Dixon; and sisters Hazel Bowling and Inez Green.
She was a life-long resident of Perry County, a retired teacher by occupation, and was affiliated with the Calvary Bible Church.
She is survived by sons, Jerry Keith Cornett and wife Sara Faye of Elizabethtown, William Earl Cornett and wife Debra of Viper, Gregory Clay Cornett and wife Pamela of Henderson, Ky., and David Anthony Cornett and wife Carren of Woodstock, Ga.; daughter Linda Carol Kelly and husband James of Viper; grandchildren Glenn, Tony, Lucinda, Earl, Olivia, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Marci, Mari, Hannah, and Mahala; great-grandchildren Logan, Mason, Aden, Samuel and Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 20 at 11 a.m. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home of Hazard with Rev. Dana Feltner officiating. The interment will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery located at Jeff. The visitation will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made the Mountain Community Hospice.
