SLEMP — A Perry County man is facing charges after police allegedly found methamphetamine at his residence over the weekend.

James D. Ritchie, 49, of Slemp, was arrested on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and unlawful possession of meth precursor, both first offenses.

According to the arrest citation, Perry County Sheriff’s Deputy Jerry Burns responded to a call Saturday afternoon to 22 Ritchie Hollow after several complaints had been filed about meth being manufactured at that residence. Upon speaking to Ritchie, Burns and Deputy Kevin Day were given permission to search the premises where they reported finding a backpack containing “roughly 10 items used for manufacturing …” and “… a bag of brown powder substance believed to be methamphetamine.”

Ritchie was arrested and lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash bond.

Ritchie’s arraignment was held Monday afternoon in district court.
