Sally Mae Ellis, 72, of South Williamson, Ky., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 1, 2013.


Sally was born on May 17, 1940, the daughter of the late Archie and Nora Aldridge Thompson.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Dingess and Lenora Dingess; brother, Charles Homer Thompson; and sister-in-law, Gertrude Thompson.


She is survived by her husband, Lonnie T. Ellis, of South Williamson, Ky.; her son, Duane Dingess of Dingess; granddaughter, Brittney (Nathan) May of Dingess; former daughter-in-law, Brenda Bragg of Dingess; stepdaughter, Vicki (Dr. Chuck) Johnson of South Williamson, Ky.; stepson, Lonnie T. (Trudy) Ellis Jr., of Ravenswood; two step-granddaughters, Mary Beth Johnson of Louisville, Ky., and Victoria Ellis of Ravenswood; two step-grandsons, Charles Edward Johnson, III (Chas) of Lexington, Ky., and Lonnie T. Ellis, III (Trey) of Ravenswood; brother, James Thompson of Marengo, Ohio; three sisters, Morine (Grant) Hayden of Huntington, Linda Sue Morrison of Johnson City, Tenn., Arisba (Stanley) Fink of Ceredo Kenova; sister-in-law, Violet Thompson of Dingess; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.


Sally worked for the Mingo County EOC and was the owner of Sally’s Country Kitchen in Varney. Sally loved and cared for all who knew her.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, at 11 a.m. in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Stanley Fink leading the service. Entombment will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Maher, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the Funeral Home Chapel.
