GOODY, Ky. – The Belfry Pirates clubbed the visiting Man Hillbillies 6-2 Tuesday at Massey Energy Field at Goody, Ky.


Coach Michael Hagy’s squad improved to 3-4 on the season.


Man (0-4) scored the game’s first run in the top of the 1st inning with two outs, Braden Griffin doubled to center and scored on Cayce Mullins RBI single to left.


In the bottom of the 1st frame for Belfry, with one out, Reed Williamson reached first on an error by third baseman Kenny Joe Adkins. He then scored on Zack Francisco’s RBI double to right center.


In the 3rd inning, Befry’s Keaton Taylor led off with single to left, stole second, advanced to third on an error and then scored on Williamson’s sacrifice fly to left field.


Francisco was then hit by a pitch and Joey Duty reached safely on error by second sacker Bailey Beckwith. Then Francisco, who had stolen second base, scored on an Austin Rollins RBI single to right. Rollins was thrown out trying to stretch his hit into a double.


In the 5th inning Belfry’s, Williamson reached on an error, then Francisco singled, and Williamson scored on an error by the second baseman. This was a pickoff play trying to catch Francisco leading off at second base.


In the 6th inning, Befry’s Zac Fields led off with single down the third base line to help his own cause. Travis Maynard, who came in as a pinch runner, then stole second and scored on a sacrifice fly by Dustin Jewell.


In the 7th inning, with two outs, Man’s Mitchell Morris doubled to center and then scored double to left by Griffin.


Zac Fields got the win on the mound for Belfry. Jewell got the save for the Pirates. John Thomas Keffer took the loss for the Hillbillies.


The Pirates are scheduled to play Phelps at home on Friday evening and then travel to Hazard on Saturday for a doubleheader with Harlan and Hazard.
