Logan routs New York team at Myrtle Beach
by Paul Adkins
The Logan High School baseball team has always seemed to have a lot of success against New York teams during its annual spring break trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C.
That success continued on Tuesday as Kenmore East became the latest New York sacrificial lamb as the Wildcats bombed the squad from the Empire State, 12-2, in the Mingo Bay Classic tourney.
Logan, which improved to 4-1 on the season, had its Monday game at the Beach against Buffalo Putnam rained out.
The Wildcats’ Johnny Morrison improved to 2-1 and had eight strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work against Kenmore East.
Trace Butcher pitched a perfect inning and a third while striking out three.
Logan was paced by Z. Minnick’s three-hit and three-RBI performance at the plate.
Kyle Harvey went 2-for-3.
Josh Rein, Trace Butcher, Troy Burgess, Chase Preston and Trent Dalton all added singles for Logan.
Logan was scehduled to be back in action on Wednesday afternoon against T.L. Hannah (S.C). The school was brought to life on the big screen by the football movie “Radio.”
The Wildcats are also set to have games at Myrtle Beach through at least Friday.
