The Chapmanville Middle School baseball team suffered its second loss of the season as Ripley won 9-5 over the Tigers on Friday night at Chapmanville’s Ted Ellis Field.

Griffin Durst pitched three three complete innings for Ripley. He had one strikeout, one walk and allowed three hits. Lane Casto went four innings, allowing five runs and six hits. Casto had three strikeouts and six walks.

Josh Zigmond went 3.2 innings for the Tigers, allowing five runs and three hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Dylan Brown finished for the Tigers throwing 3.1 innings and giving up four runs with one strikeout and two walks.

“We got off to a slow start but we seemed to get better as the game went on. We plated our first two runs in the bottom of the fourth and didn’t give up,” CMS coach Dwight Dingess said. “Today I think we had three fielding errors. We must work on playing with intensity as we have been flat the last two games. I was well pleased with Dylan on the hill. He has not had much time as a pitcher and he stepped in and threw strikes.”

At the plate, Chapmanville’s Noah Dingess saw hits from both sides. He had one single as a lefty and one from the right side.

Adam Vance also added two singles for CMS.

Devin Hensley had a double while Ryan Craddock, Conner Mullins, Evan Willis and Austin Bledsoe each singled to round out the nine hits for the Tigers.

Zigmond had a bases loaded walk for an RBI.

Dingess, Craddock and Mullins had one RBI each.

The Tigers are scheduled to take on the Harts Middle School Lions on Monday at Ted Ellis field. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
