It is time to clean off tables and nightstands and clean out cabinets, drawers and medicine chests to participate in an event to safely dispose of expired, unwanted or unused medications. The Logan County Sheriff’s Department and Drug Enforcement Agency are working together to sponsor the 6th National Prescription Take-Back Day.
National Take Back days are scheduled in thousands of locations nationwide. The DEA website says during the five previous Take Back events, DEA in conjunction with law enforcement partners have collected more than 2 million pounds (1,018 tons) of prescription medications and removed them from circulation.
Saturday April 27, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., in the Wal-Mart parking lot at Fountain Place, a Sheriff’s Department Command Post will be set up to accept both prescription and over-the-counter drugs for disposal.
Intra-venous (IV) solutions or injectable drugs or needles will not be accepted.
