The Logan County Family Resource Network (FRN) in conjunction with Step by Step is proud to announce that Logan County will be receiving a Partners in Prevention or PIP grant.

Partners in Prevention is a statewide initiative that focuses on innovative and effective strategies that build strong families and communities in order to prevent child abuse and neglect. “There are currently forty community teams in the state of W.Va. and it warms my heart to see Logan County added to that list”, Said Logan County Family Resource Network Director Chris Trent. “Step by Step has been crucial in bringing this grant to the county and they should be commended for all of their hard work. Michael Tierney, David Chairez, Jennifer Bartram, and Tara Frye have been instrumental in making this happen.”

Step by Step will serve as the fiscal agent of the grant. The Logan County Board of Education, Logan County Sheriff’s Department, Logan-Mingo Area Mental Health, WECAN, Logan CAC, and the Buffalo Creek Memorial Library all have employees listed as team members on the grant application.

“It truly shows that so many have a vested interest in the children of Logan County,” said Trent.

April is also Child Abuse Prevention Month. Pinwheels will be placed throughout the county at flagpoles, schools, homes, and businesses. Children memorial flags will also be flying high and proud from many flagpoles in the Man, Logan, and Chapmanville area.
