PIPPA PASSES - The Alice Lloyd College baseball team swept visiting Johnson University in a doubleheader last week, winning 9-1 and 12-3.


More on each game follows.


Game 1 - ALC 9, JU 1: Host Alice Lloyd County scored the game’s first run and never trailed, eventually pulling away to win 9-1.


The Eagles added multiple runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings.


Brandon Arnold led the Alice Lloyd offense with three RBIs.


Cody Hyden and Josh Mills added two RBIs each for the Eagles.


Jake Bales also had an RBI for Alice Lloyd in the impressive win.


Wayned Sparks started on the mound for the Eagles.


Sparks went two innings while Ryan Burrow pitched four and Jordan Horn tossed one. Sparks and Horn pitched shutout efforts while Burrow gave up just 3 hits and one run.


Game 2 - ALC 12, JU 3: Alice Lloyd also pulled away to win convincingly in the second game, defeating Johnson University 12-3.


The Eagles scored in every inning but the first. Zach Hancock and Ben Ray led the Alice Lloyd offensive with three RBIs apiece.


Shane Pack, Cody Hyden, Derek Walzer and Will Hamilton also drove in runs for the Eagles.


Pitcher Mackenzie Hicks started on the mound for the Eagles. Hicks gave up one hit and one run and struck out one.


Russell Sweeney, Chance Westerfield and Aaron Boling pitched the other four innings. The trio combined to allowed five hits and two runs while striking out five batters.
