DRIFT - Prestonsburg defeated Allen Central for the second time in as many outings on Tuesday, shutting out the Rebels 7-0 in a 58th District/Floyd County Conference game at Drift Park.
Senior pitcher Adam Griffith tossed a complete game for the Prestonsburg baseball team. Griffith tossed a three-hitter, registering six strikeouts.
Allen Central sophomore pitcher Dalton Lawson suffered the loss. Lawson also pitched a complete game.
The Blackcats moved out in front in the opening inning and used a strong finish to upend Allen Central.
Prestonsburg plated three runs in the first inning. Then, after going quietly in each of the next four innings, Prestonsburg produced one run in the sixth.
Finishing strong, Prestonsburg scored three runs in the seventh inning to earn the 7-0 victory.
Hunter Brown led the Prestonsburg offense. Brown belted a three-run home run in the first inning. The fifth-place hitter in the Prestonsburg batting order, Brown also had a triple and a single as he finished a double short of hitting for the cycle.
Grant Anderson and Bryson Williams, the top two hitters in the Prestonsburg batting order, provided two runs apiece.
Griffith, Brown and Trey Stapleton crossed home plate once fro the Blackcats.
Prestonsburg completed a regular-season sweep of Allen Central. The Blackcats beat the Rebels 10-3 in a game played March 29.
