PIPPA PASSES - The Alice Lloyd College softball team swept a doubleheader from visiting UC Clermont Saturday. More on Alice Lloyd’s doubleheader sweep follows.

Game 1 - ALC 7, UCC 5: Alice Lloyd pitcher Kayla Stambaugh was solid in the circle as she led the host team to a hard-fought 7-5 victory in game one. The visiting squad scored one run to open the contest before Alice Lloyd quickly took over. The Lady Eagles plated two runs in the bottom of the inning before taking command with three runs in the fifth and two insurance runs one inning later.

Megan Boswell, Whitley Albury and Kristin Fields each smacked two hits for the Lady Eagles. Taylor Short and Stambaugh added one hit each. Boswell continued to excel offensively, leading the way with two RBIs.

Game 2 - ALC 4, UCC 1: Pitcher Whitley Albury was in total command as she led host Alice Lloyd to a convincing 4-1 victory over UC Clermont.

The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when Taylor Short, who had connected on a triple, scored. The Lady Eagles then plated three insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Albury, Kristin Fields, and Short each smacked two hits for the Lady Eagles.

Kayla Stambaugh and Shayla Brinegar added one hit apiece.

Stambaugh and Chelsea Brown each had an RBI for the Lady Eagles.

Alice Lloyd pulled off its first doubleheader sweep.

The wins were a milestone for the Alice Lloyd softball program as it marked its first-ever sweep of a doubleheader.

Alice Lloyd is scheduled to play a four-game series versus Brescia April 19-20.
