PRESTONSBURG — Two Floyd County students have been selected for the prestigious Kentucky Governor’s Scholars program.

Floyd County Supt. Henry Webb made the announcement earlier this week that two Floyd County students have been selected for the Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program, an enhanced summer learning program for students going into their senior year of high school.

“The board team and I are very proud of these exceptional students for all the hard work and dedication they’ve put in to be accepted into this prestigious program,” Webb said.

Students who are selected to the program are afforded not only an incredible experience, but also receive scholarships that average more than $60,000, depending on the college or university each student selects.

This year’s students selected for the program include Dylan Blake Baldridge, of Prestonsburg High School, and Joslyn Deeann Isaac, of South Floyd High School.

“We want to thank their teachers and families for supporting our kids through this process and are excited about the many opportunities that the Governor’s Scholar Program will offer them this summer and in the future,” Webb said.

The process for selection as a Governor’s Scholar is detailed and competitive. Along with a written essay, students are judged on the quality of their grades and test scores.
