Donnie Ray Harrison, 54 of Martin County, Ky., passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, at his home.


Born February 5, 1959 in Pike County, Ky., he was the eldest son of Chester Ray and Dixie Louise Blevins Harrison of Martin County.


He was preceded in death by his brother William Dale Harrison and many other loving family members.


Donnie enjoyed spending his days “tinkering” with mechanical items. He always had a quick smile for visitors and he loved showing off his many Zippos!


Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his sisters Gloria (Greg) Maynard and Patricia (Doyle) Maynard of Martin County, KY and Judy (Sam) Spaulding of Johnson County, Ky., nephews Gregory Maynard Jr. and Andrew Maynard of Tazewell, Va., Caleb Doyle Maynard of Martin County, Alexander Altizer and Nicholas Altizer of Martin County, Charles Spaulding of Johnson County, and Jaxon Harris of Johnson County, nieces Virginia Altizer, Jessica Harrison, and Georganna (Caleb) Whittington all of Martin County, Rena (Robbie) Harris of Johnson County, and Kimberly Altizer of Martin County. Also surviving is a host of other family and friends.


Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 1 p.m. from the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, Ky., with Elders Lacy Walters, Richard Staton, and David Crigger officiating. Burial will follow in the Stepp Cemetery at Hatfield, Ky., with Doyle, Jesse, Charlie, Caleb, Russell, Steven, and other family and friends serving as pallbearers.


Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the funeral home with special services nightly at 7 p.m.
