ALLEN - Allen Central still has border rival Knott County Central’s number in baseball. Host Allen Central built up an early lead and pulled away to beat longtime foe Knott County Central 11-4 on Saturday.

Allen Central moved to 11-6 after defeating Knott County Central for its third straight win.

Knott County Central fell to 3-12 following the loss.

Allen Central needed only five hits to produce 11 runs. The Rebels also benefited from five Knott County Central efforts.

Allen Central pitcher Junior Handshoe notched eight strikeouts in six innings to get the win. Handshoe threw 15 first pitch strikes.

Allen Central excelled in the field, exiting the game without an error.

Knott County Central lost, despite outhitting Allen Central 9-5.

Knott County Central pitcher Bristol McGee worked four innings and suffered the loss.

Allen Central scored first and never trailed. The Rebels plated one run in the opening inning to take an early 1-0 lead. Then, Allen Central enjoyed its second five-run inning in as many games, scoring five runs in the second inning to lead 6-0.

Knott County Central scored its first run in the third inning and added three more in the fifth before falling short.

Allen Central added to its lead with a three-run effort in the sixth inning during its final plate appearance.

The Rebels defeated Knott County Central for the second time this season. In a game played on March 28, Allen Central defeated Knott County Central 5-1.
