The Logan High School tennis team swept past Winfield on Monday night at the LHS tennis courts.

The Logan girls won 7-0 over the Generals while the boys were a 5-2 winner.

The LHS boys improved to 13-3 on the season while the Lady Cats upped their record to 12-4.

In the girls’ match, Logan No. 1 singles player Lauren Chambers was an 8-4 winner over Winfield’s Cheyenne Farley.

Hayley Hatfield of Logan then defeated Jaden Hardesty 8-1 in the No. 2 singles match.

In the No. 3, the Lady Cats’ Morgan Browning was an 8-3 victor over Anusha Kawhaja.

Logan No. 4 Adrianna Herrera also won her match over Winfield’s Faith Burchette by an 8-2 score.

In the No. 1 doubles match, Chambers and Browning took an 8-3 decision over Farley and Hardesty.

Hatfield and Hanna Lester of Logan then defeated Winfield’s Anusha Kwahaja and Burdette 8-4 in the No. 2.

Logan’s No. 3 doubles tandem of Herrera and Riki Workman then won 8-4 over Winfield’s Samantha Cole and Ariane Costa.

In the boys’ matchup, No. 1 singles player Zack Hatfield of Logan downed the Generals’ Heath Diehl 8-0.

The Wildcats’ Keith Williamson then took the No. 2 match by an 8-1 count over Trevor Oxley.

Logan No. 4 Jacob Adkins also won 8-4 over Winfield’s Tyler Duty.

In doubles action, Logan’s No. 1 team of Hatfield and Williamson was an 8-1 winner over Diehl and Luke Nelson.

Logan Adkins and Jacob Adkins won 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles match over Oxley and Duty.

The LHS tennis team, coached by Justin Turner, are scheduled to be back into action on Wednesday at home against Huntington.

Next Monday, the Wildcats host Hurricane before going to Scott on Tuesday.

The Class AAA regional tournament is then slated to be held on May 2-3 at Huntington’s Ritter Park.
