Mildred Maggard, 85, of Hazard, died Wednesday, May 1 at the hospice care center in Hazard.
She was the daughter of the late Dan Pelfrey and the late Polly Ritchie Pelfrey, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Ray Maggard; son Danny Darrell Maggard; sisters Nadiene Combs and Betty Jean Stacy; and brothers Otis and Bill Pelfrey.
She is survived by daughters Doris Jean Bishop and husband Cordis of Hazard, Janice Hurt and husband Wilbert of Hazard, and Erva Johnson and husband Terry Joe of Oklahoma; son Jerry Wayne Maggard and wife Linda of Owensboro, Ky.; sisters Thelma Russell and husband Bud of Ohio, and Dorothy Greer and husband Bob of Lexington; brother Ken Pelfrey and wife Sandy of Ohio, and Paul Pelfrey and wife Zeb of Michigan; brother-in-law Irving Maggard, Jr. and wife Pat of Indiana; and sister-in-law Eunice Salyers and husband Ken of Virginia.
She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and a host other relatives and friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 2. Services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 3 with Kendall Combs officiating. Interment will be at the Hurt Family Cemetery in Upper Second Creek.
