GILBERT – Mingo Central senior Joe May has been known for his exploits on the football field and even in track.

But on Tuesday he showed his best Babe Ruth impersonation when he clubbed a pair home runs to help Mingo Central to a 11-6 win over River View at the Gilbert field.

May had four RBIs with the two homers he hit. The feat slightly overshadowed a 4-for-4 day by junior Alex “Booger” Lee who also had four RBIs.

Mason Conley had two hits including a double, while Matt Lester, Garth Simpkins and Todd Slone each added base hits for coach Roger Staton’s team. Conley and Lee each scored three runs for the Miners.

Lee pitched a complete game to get the win on the mound for Mingo Central.

Cam Roberts got the loss on the mound for River View. Jordan Wilson and Zach Shelton led RVHS with two hits each. Shelton also had three RBIs.

Mingo Central was slated to play at Poca on Tuesday and travel to Westside today.

Score by innings:

RVHS … 1 0 2 3 0 0 0 – 6 8 4

MCHS … 3 3 0 2 3 0 0 – 11 11 3
