“And he said, What hast thou done? Voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground” (Genesis 4:10).

As one reads the Bible you will see that the first recorded murder which took place after God had created man. It is the first time that the blood of man stained the earth that God had created. I wondered if Abel’s murder was premeditated or not? I guess Cain thought he had gotten by with it. But the Word of God tells us different, the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground”

Man has forgotten the importance of blood. People have tried for years to get it out of the Bible and out of the Church hymnals. The importance of blood begins in the very creation of man. The Bible tells us that Adam, came into existence by direct creation.

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul” (Genesis 2:7).

Later on God would make Adam a helpmeet. “And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept, and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof, And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, and made he a woman, and brought her unto the man” (Genesis 2:21-22).

The woman that God created was a special creation, God made her in a special way. She came into this world without the aid of a woman. God was taking care of the blood line. Every other generation came into this world by a man and a woman. Now, Jesus came into this world by a virgin without the aid of a man, conceived of the Holy Ghost

“Now, the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise; When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost” ( Matthew 1:18). Now our blood is poisoned by sin, but glory to God, there is not one stain nor blot in the veins of Jesus. If Jesus had inherited the same blood as we have, which is poisoned by sin, then He would be a sinner. He would have died for His own sins. That is the reason Jesus had to be born of a Virgin Birth. Jesus blood was without spot or blemish.

“But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Peter 1:19).

It took the precious blood of Jesus that was shed to save us from the pits of hell. Do you know that Abel and Jesus had much in common in their death?

Abel died because of his office. “And Abel, he also brought of the firstling of the flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto. Abel and to his offering” (Genesis 4:4). Abel brought a sacrifice of atonement, the blood was shed upon that altar for remission of sin.

Jesus died because he was the altar. “…we have an altar” (Hebrews 13:10). Believer today have an altar. We do not have a material altar with a local address, but we have an altar which is in heaven. It is the throne of grace in heaven.

Abel died because of his belief. Christ died because of his burden. Abel died because of his devotion, Christ died because he is the deliverer. Abel died because he was faithful, Christ died because He was the fulfillment. Abel died because of his gift, Christ died because He was a gift. Abel died because of his hope, Christ died because all men are hopeless. Abel died because he was just, Christ died at the hands of a mob. Abel died because of his sacrifice, Christ died because he was the sacrifice. Abel died standing for the truth and Christ died because He is the truth.

People, without the shed blood of Jesus Christ there is no hope for man to be saved.

If you don’t know Jesus this would be a good time to call upon His name and be covered by His precious blood.

Next week we will see the three fold cry of Abel.
