POCA – The Poca Dots made a strong point against the Mingo Central Miners with a 4-0 and a 19-0 doubleheader sweep on Wednesday at Poca.

The Dots led 1-0 heading into the 4th inning when they tacked on three more runs.

Matt Lester had a pair of hits for Mingo Central in the first game. Joe May took the loss on the mound. Ryan Leighton got the win for Poca. Matt Chandler had a double with a pair of RBIs.

In the second game, Poca scored early and often taking a commanding lead and coasting to the victory.

Todd Slone took the loss on the hill. Lester had a double in the game for the Miners.

Poca’s Cam Cottrill went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, Evan McClanahan went 4-for-4 with five RBIs, and Chandler 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Noah Frampton went 2-4 for Poca, while Syler Vealey also three hits by Dots.

The Dots are now 9-1 in the Cardinal Conference and 18-6 overall.

Mingo Central is 2-7 in conference play and 9-11 for the season. The Miners were scheduled to travel to Westside on Thursday.
