Recently, Town of Danville Mayor Mark McClure was awarded one of the West Virginia Municipal League’s highest honors at its annual conference in Showshoe.

For the first time in league history, they inducted their first “Hall of Fame” class. Twenty members were inducted for the Class of 2012.

One of the criteria is that a nominee must have at least 20 years of service in a town or city to be inducted. Danville Mayor McClure had diligently served the people of Danville for 35 years.

Danville has been one of the fastest growing towns in Boone County during his tenure. Mayor McClure has live on Price Branch Road for the past 36 years, where he and his wife, the former Darlene McKinney, raised their daughter Sarah.

Mayor McClure has been determined not to raise taxes for businesses or homeowners since he was elected mayor. This has made the Danville area enticing to businesses and been a key part of growth of Danville, officials said.

The West Virginia Municipal League is a non-profit organization that strives to make West Virginia cities and towns stronger and more unified. Their goal in this unification is to build a stronger West Virginia.

The Municipal League thanked Mayor McClure for his dedication to the citizens of Danville.
