Daniel Artis Akers, age 86, of Banner, husband of Lana Spears Akers, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 28, 1927, at Dana, a son of the late Allen W. and Myrtle Boyd Akers. He was a carpenter.
In addition to his wife, Daniel is survived by two daughters, Elaine (Elliot) Fraim and Terry Leigh (Phillip) Johnson; two granddaughters, Sarah Ellen Peyton Fraim and Mariah Haleigh Johnson; three step-children, Lisa (Mike) Hall, Dwayne (Tina) Akers and Kim (Michael) Turley; five step-grandchildren, Dustin Akers, Chandler Lyon, Elizabeth Hall, Katie Lyon and Tori Hall; and one brother, Ray (Georgia) Akers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Blanche Akers; daughter, Vera Akers; three brothers, Hoover Akers, Evan Akers and Ervin Akers; and two sisters, Juanita Akers and Lazelle Williams.
Funeral services for Daniel Artis Akers will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 16, in the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with Belmont Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Allen W. Akers Cemetery, at Dana.
Visitation will be held after 5 p.m., Tuesday, and all day, Wednesday, with services nightly at 7 p.m.
