MORRISVALE — Although the attendance was low, the moral and spirit we’re high as Morrisvale Helping Hand, Inc. had their first ever public meeting, held on May 6, 2013.

If you don’t already know, Morrisvale Helping Hand, Inc. is a newly formed non-profit organization striving to better the community they are in, as well as the community of others.

“We believe that if we all work together as one, we can make a world of difference in our state, and eventually in the world we live in,” said Brent Ellis, executive director of the newly formed organization.

“The organization is diligently working to obtain our 501 c (3) status, so that we may be able to further our efforts in helping all those in need,” according to Cecil (Teddy) Silva, one of two Founders of the organization.

They currently have a few projects they’re working on such as giving away free clothing, as well as personal care items to the homeless Veterans and homeless families around Charleston, which will be taking place Saturday, May 18, 2013.

They are looking to get a facility to house an Outreach Center in the near future, so they are able to give out clothing, shoes, as well as furniture, to families who may be unable to afford to purchase them.

The organization has brought on board Sharon Sammons, the former coordinator of the McCorkle Outreach Center, located in Lincoln County.

Sammons is now the only Board of Director the organization has, as they’re looking to fill positions within the organization.

If you would like to help this newly formed organization in any way, or you have any questions, comments or concerns in your community.
