PAINTSVILLE - The Betsy Layne Bobcats, playing on the road, dropped back-to-back games to 15th Region rivals Johnson Central and Paintsville earlier in the week. Johnson Central defeated the Bobcats 13-3 in five innings on Monday. One day later, Paintsville pulled away to beat the Bobcats 7-4.

Johnson Central 13, Betsy Layne 3: Host Johnson Central plated 13 runs on 11 hits and didn’t commit any errors on Monday, defeating visiting Betsy Layne 13-3 in five innings.
Johnson Central pitcher Bo Robbins earned the win.
Betsy Layne hurler Michael Henson took the loss.
After three scoreless innings, Betsy Layne plated two runs in the top half of the fourth inning. Answering, Johnson Central scored three runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning to lead 3-2.
The Bobcats tied the game with a lone run in the top half of the fifth inning. Betsy Layne, however, eventually fell victim to a Johnson Central offensive onslaught. The Golden Eagles plated 10 runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning to claim the 10-run win.
Chaynse Hill helped to lead the Johnson Central offense with three hits and three RBIs. Zac Salyer added four RBIs for the Eagles.
Juwan Mayes added three hits and three RBIs for Johnson Central in the impressive victory.
Betsy Layne scored three runs on eight hits in the loss.
Jonathan Brock led the Betsy Layne offense with a double.
Defensively, Betsy Layne committed a pair of errors.
Paintsville 7, Betsy Layne 4: After allowing Betsy Layne to push across a pair of runs, host Paintsville plated five runs in the bottom half of the third inning and never relinquished its lead, defeating the Bobcats 7-4.
Betsy Layne lost, despite outhitting Paintsville 11-8.
Paintsville pitcher Matthew Miller earned the win. Miller registered nine strikeouts.
Betsy Layne hurler Kannon Newsome, a recent Alice Lloyd College signee, suffered the loss.
The Tigers led 5-2 at the conclusion of the third inning. Remaining out in front, Paintsville packed a 7-3 lead out of the fifth inning.
Betsy Layne added its final run in the top half of the seventh inning.
Miller led the Paintsville offensive effort with two hits. Lane Daniels and Luke Daniels delivered two RBIs apiece for the Tigers.
Peyton Case and James Frasure paced Betsy Layne with two hits apiece.
Newsome, helping his pitching cause, came through with three RBIs.
Each team committed an error in the high school baseball contest.
