PIPPA PASSES - The Alice Lloyd College baseball program, under the direction of head coach Scott Cornett, has announced the signing of Scott High School’s Forest Spurlock to an athletic letter of intent for the 2013-14 season. ALC assistant coach Jason Stowers traveled to Madison, W.Va. on Monday, May 6 and secured the signature of the left-handed power-hitter.

“This young man is the real deal,” Stowers said. “He should make a huge impact for our team next season.”

Earlier in the month, Spurlock led the state of West Virginia in homeruns (13) and RBIs (59). He has become Scott High’s all-time homerun leader, amassing 38 homers during his career. Spurlock was batting .500 heading into the postseason.

A few days after Spurlock signed, Betsy Layne senior Kannon Newsome inked a scholarship agreement with the Alice Lloyd College baseball program.
