The Valley of Logan Scottish Rite will be holding a special event this coming weekend, Saturday, May 18 from noon until 6 p.m. at the Department of Motor Vehicles parking lot. The event will feature a barbeque dinner, live entertainment, competitions and more.
The event is part of a statewide celebration of the Scottish Rite and portions of it will wind up being broadcast on the internet. The celebration will feature a live disc jockey playing music as well as a barbequed pork meal. The dinner is available for a $5 donation. The meal will consist of pulled pork barbeque, baked beans and cole slaw.
Proceeds from the donation will go towards Scottish Rite charities and Temple upkeep.
Part of this weekend’s fun will include the popular bean bag throwing game called “Cornhole” in the form of a tournament. Trophies will be awarded for the top three teams. American Cornhole Association rules will be applied. Two-person teams will compete in each game of the double-elimination tournament. Team pairings will be determined by drawing individual names from a hat. Admission to compete in the tournament is $10. Entrants will also receive a free meal. (If you have made a donation for a meal already, your ticket will be rebated by half.) To-go dinners will also be available for a $5 donation. Due to the family nature of the event, no alcoholic beverages will be permitted. Tournament begins at 2 p.m. and competitors should be there prior to 2 p.m. to register.
The public is invited to come out and attend and have a good time for a good cause. For more information about the event contact Larry Chafin at 304-687-0061 or Bruce Bryant at 304-688-3917.
Logan Valley Scottish Rite members will be needed to do volunteer work.
Tickets are available now from local Scottish Rite members and will be available at the gate.
