PAINTSVILLE - In town on Saturday to serve as the Grand Marshal for Spring Fling, 2013 Pop’s Chevrolet Hillbilly Arm Drop Drags Event Coordinator Kent Rose was doing his part to promote local drag racing and the Arm Drop Nation that he has helped to build. Then, he was honored with the Key to the City of Paintsville. Ever-supportive Paintsville Mayor Bob Porter awarded Rose the Key to the City of Paintsville during a ceremony Saturday morning. In turn, Rose gave Porter a set of his limited edition pliers. Rose, who was given a Key to the City of Prestonsburg in late-2012, was quick to compliment the City of Paintsville and the support of many dedicated individuals.

“I’m extremely appreciative of the City of Paintsville, Paintsville Tourism and Paintsville Main Street for all that they’ve done and continue to do,” Rose said. “There are many outstanding individuals from Paintsville and Johnson County who help to make the Arm Drop Nation strong. Spring Fling was a great event and I was very honored to be a part of it. Receiving the Key to the City of Paintsville is a tremendous honor. We are continuing to work together to make all of Eastern Kentucky better.”

Rose has another busy weekend ahead. This Saturday, he’s scheduled to appear from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Honda of Prestonsburg & Sign Guys’ Inflatable Fun Day, an event that is free and includes food.

“I’d like to personally invite everyone out to the Honda of Prestonsburg & Sign Guys’ Inflatable Fun Day,” Rose commented. “I’ll be there to meet and greet and also give away Shirt Gallery promotional items.”

Following his appearance in Prestonsburg, Rose will hit the road and travel to London, where he is scheduled to drop arms on drag races at London Dragway from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Drag racers will have an opportunity to return to Paintsville-Prestonsburg-Combs Field Airport at Hager Hill on June 29 when the event dubbed All Day Mayhem is staged. Grudge racing will be held during the late-June event.

“All Day Mayhem is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to come to grudge race,” Rose added. “That’s what it’s all about, so let’s shake and bake for the Arm Drop Nation.”
