ALLEN - The Kinzer Motorsports team traveled to the Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia and the 201 Speedway in Sitka May 17-18 for a pair of Dirt Late Model special events. Veteran driver Brandon Kinzer finished just outside of the top-five at 201 Speedway after the race in Georgia was rained out.
On Friday night at Boyd’s Speedway, the Spring Nationals tour rolled into town to sanction a $4,000-to-win program. Unfortunately for the racers and fans, so did Mother Nature. The show was rained out following qualifying and rescheduled for May 24.
At 201 Speedway on Saturday evening, a $3,000 top prize was on the line in the running of the ‘Walter Combs Memorial.’ Kinzer ran second in his heat race to advance into the unsanctioned feature event. A brief rain delay during the parade laps added extra moisture to the racing surface and Kinzer’s hard tire selection was not optimal. Despite not being able to change his tires before the green flag dropped, Kinzer soldiered on to finish sixth in the Walter Combs Memorial, finishing behind only winner Dustin Linville, Jackie Boggs, Chris Combs, Michael Paul Howard and fellow Floyd County driver Paul Harris.
