In response to such great weather and a surplus of product, Williamson Farmers Market vendors will be setting up shop this Memorial Day weekend.

Despite previous plans to close this Saturday, vendors collaboratively decided to set up and sell their fresh produce.

“We had three very successful preseason markets,” said farmers market vendor Doug Dudley, who nearly sold out last weekend.

The Market, now in its second year of business, opened the last Saturday in April for the first of three preseason dates, and again on May 11 and 18 originally scheduled to then open officially on June 1.

“Since we have had great community support, and because we have such a variety of produce growing right now, we wanted to just keep going.”

Several vendors will be set up at the usual location on the corner of Vinson St. and Second Avenue on Saturday from 8am-4pm. There will be a wide range of greens such as four different varieties of lettuce, mustard, green onions, spinach, and kale, as well as peas, radishes, beets and much more.

After this weekend, the market will be open every Saturday. A summer event schedule will soon be released, but for more information in the meantime, contact Maria Arnot at 304-235-3400 or visit www.Facebook.com/WilliamsonFarmersMarket.
