Farmer Brown Eversole, 89, of Baldwin, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, May 28 at home.

He was born on September 14, 1923, in Avawam, to Jesse and Mary Belle Eversole. As a teen, He worked with the CCC camps, and worked on the Hoover Dam Project in Nevada. He also worked in the coal mines of Kentucky.

Farmer entered the United States Army and served in World War II, mainly in Germany.

Following military service, he met and married the love of his life, Drucilla (Whitaker) on August 31, 1946. Following the birth of their son, Wayne, they moved from Hazard, to Taylor, Michigan, and Farmer began employment with General Motors. In Taylor, Farmer was active with Boy Scouts.

Nearing retirement, the couple, both avid hunters and lovers of the out of doors, bought property and built their cabin in the woods in Baldwin, Michigan in the early 1970’s.

Following the death of his beloved Drew, Farmer became a mainstay at the Lake County Meals Program.

In addition to Drucilla, Farmer was preceded in death by a son, Wade, who died at birth.

Farmer was a member of the Chase Fellowship Church in Chase and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his son, Wayne (Judith) Eversole of Baldwin; grandchildren Maureen (Jeff) Callahan of Flint, Brian (Chanelle Sipp) Eversole of Key West, Florida, Jodi (Zac) Drilling of Baldwin, and Brandon (Carrie) White of Howard City. His memory will be cherished by his great-grandchildren Jacob, Emily, Reese, Riley, Ilana and Jesse.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Anita Terpening for all her love and care.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 1 at the Verdun Funeral Home in Baldwin with Pastors Billy Rae Eversole and Connie Shoemaker officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., with the services to follow at 1 p.m. Interment with military honors will follow at the Pleasant Plains Township Cemetery. Those wishing to honor his memory are asked to consider contributions to the Chase Fellowship Church.
