ALLEN - Brandon Kinzer and his No. 18 Dirt Late Model team entered one event over the Memorial Day Weekend, making the trek to Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia Friday night. The Spring Nationals tour presided over a $4,000-to-win showdown at the Chattanooga area facility and strong field of 36 competitors piled into the pit area. Kinzer started the night off by posting the eighth-quickest lap in Group B during the qualifying session but his lap was only about a tenth off of the fastest time in the very competitive group. Despite faring well early, Kinzer was eventually caught up in a race mishap.
The Allen native claimed the second transfer spot in his B-Main, which enabled him to start from the outside of the eighth row in the 40-lap feature event. Kinzer moved all the way up to eighth in the running order late in the race, but a scrape with another competitor heavily damaged the nose of his No. 18 MB Customs mount and relegated him to a 13th place performance.
The Kinzer Motorsports raceteam is scheduled to return to competition on June 15 at 201 Speedway in a $3,000-to-win unsanctioned feature race.
