Victim of alleged abuse becomes teenage dad

Felony charges of sexual assault in the third degree (61-8B-5) were filed in the Magistrate Court against a 29-year-old Logan County woman.
The criminal complaint states law enforcement was notified by West Virginia DHHR of a sexual assault involving a male victim who was 15 years old at the time of the assault.
The woman gave birth to a child on December 27, 2012. A paternity test indicated the victim was 99.9 percent likely to be the child’s father.
The law states a person convicted of third degree sexual assault faces imprisonment in a state correctional facility not less than one year nor more than five years, or fined not more than $10,000 and imprisoned in a state correctional facility not less than one year nor more than five years.
Bond for the defendant was set at $15,000.
