A boil water advisory has been issued for several water customers living in Perry County along Highways 80 and 15.

Hazard City Manager Carlos Combs issued the advisory Tuesday morning, which notes a main waterline break has resulted in the potential for bacterial contamination in the affected area.

According to the advisory, an estimated 250 customers are included, from the intersection of Highways 15 and 80 to AAA Mine Supply located along Highway 15 in the northern section of the county. Also included is an area from the intersection east on Highway 80 to just past the Daniel Boone Shopping Center.

Due to the potential contamination, officials advise anyone living in the affected area to boil water before using it. The advisory will remain in effect until the threat of contamination has been removed.

According to officials with the city of Hazard, this latest advisory is not related to a waterline break along Ky. Highway 7 caused by a motor vehicle accident on Monday.
