HINDMAN - The Tug Valley Bass Anglers fishing club held its forth tournament of the 2013 season on Carr Fork Lake on Sunday. A total of 26 anglers competed in the event. Lynn Fields, a longtime angler, reeled in five fish totaling nearly 15 pounds to win the tournament.
Carr Fork Lake was at summer pool with clear water on the entire lake throughout the event. The water temperature was around 73 degrees during the tournament.
Weather for the tournament was wet after it had rained all day long. The air temperature, however, was around 75 degrees.
The fishing was fair. The cloudy, rainy conditions helped since the water was so clear.
The fish were caught in 2 to 10 feet of water, mostly on the main lake.
The main pattern for the tournament was to fish around steeper banks with topwater baits, soft jerkbaits and worms, basically something that resembled bait fish.
The top finishers for the tournament were as follows: 1. Lynn Fields (5 fish), 14.91 lbs.; 2. Kevin Marcum (3 fish), 7.50 lbs.; 3. Don Taylor (2 fish), 5.77 lbs.; 4. Kevin Runyon (2 fish), 4.91 lbs.; 5. Michael Salyer (1 fish), 2.79 lbs.; 6. Joe Collins (1 fish), 2.22 lbs.; 7. Lacy Edmiston (1 fish), 2.10 lbs.; 7. Don Newman (1 fish), 2.10 lbs.; 9. Greg Maynard (1 fish), 2.05 lbs.; 10. Gary Varney (1 fish), 1.85 lbs.
