The eighth annual Summer in the Park, A Celebration of the Arts and Bobby Davis Park, will take place on Saturday, June 22, beginning at 4 p.m. and lasting until late.

This year’s festival will feature local artists and artisans, local authors and books, children’s art workshops and activities, as well as performance art. Bobby Davis Museum and Park is located in Hazard at 234 Walnut Street. There will be limited street parking, but other parking is available at Memorial Gym and the Memorial Drive parking lot. There is no charge for any of the activities or performances.

The festival offers art exhibits, art activities for the kids, and performances by Little Theatre Youth Players. At 5:00PM, there will be a free Zumba for Kids session.

At 7 p.m., Little Theatre of Hazard will present two short plays by the Youth Players. The Fourth Princess by Geoff Bamber, and directed by Terry Thies, features 30 kids ages 4 to 18. The Teen Players will present “Among Friends and Clutter” by Lindsey Price and is directed by Seth Lewis, a founding member of the Youth Players.

Lacy Hale, a Knott County native and current Letcher County resident, will exhibit her work along with pieces from other local artists. Lacy works with several arts organizations and just finished up with Seedtime in the Cumberlands. Along with visual artists, several local authors, including Sam Neace and Miriam Moyer, will also be on hand with their latest books.
