LOGAN, W.Va. — Elizabeth “Betty” Howerton went peacefully to meet her Lord Sunday, June 9, 2013. Betty was a lifelong resident of Logan and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Alice Coberly.

Betty worked along beside her husband, T. Keith Howerton, at Guyan Realty and Insurance Agency in downtown Logan. She was also preceded in death by one son Tom Howerton.

Betty was a devoted wife and mother and in earlier years was an avid bowler, tennis player, and loved to read and watch movies. Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Logan and attended church along with her husband Keith, until his passing and until her health started to decline.

Betty is survived by three sons and one daughter: David and his wife Deni of Logan, John and his wife Carol of Logan, Mark and his wife Cindy of Hurricane, and Susan H. Smith and her husband Richard of Honey Brook, Pa. Betty is also survived by 12 grandchildren. Allison Anama, Scott Howerton, Becky Allen, Richard Smith, Melissa Smith, Amy Goldie, Beth Howerton, Michelle Howerton, Tyler Howerton, Kathryn Howerton, Elizabeth Howerton, Marshall Howerton, and 13 great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law Barbara Howerton of Salem, Va.

Betty lost the love of her life six years ago. These two angels reunited on June 9, 2013. We can only imagine them walking hand in hand down the streets of Heaven and smiling. One is new and the other has been waiting patiently on her to get there. Like the song says “Waiting On A Woman”. She had a task to finish, shoes to tie and lipstick to check. If there’s a Hardwick’s in Heaven they are headed there for lunch. A wonderful woman that will be greatly missed by her family. Rest in Peace.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 14, at First Presbyterian Church of Logan with the Rev. Doug Craven officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

Friends may call on the family one hour prior to services at the church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Dignity Hospice.
