For many years Pete Caraway has played guitar and written songs. The native of Rawl, W.Va., Caraway has turned his interest toward gospel music the last few years.

He recently recorded an original gospel album (CD) at Harvest Studios in Huntington, W.Va., with his sister Geri Roberts. It was produced by John D. Rowsey, who has won a Dove Award in the past for his work in gospel music.

Caraway, who frequently sings solo at local churches in the Tug Valley, with the exception of two songs, wrote seven of the songs recorded by him and his sister on the CD. The other two songs were written by Rev. Earl White and by Albert Brumley.

The former marine has been playing and singing for many years. In the past he dabbled into country music, but he has turned his attention to religious music.

The Caraway’s frequently sing at church gatherings in the Ashland, Ky. and in the Ironton, Ohio area, where Geri lives.

The songs have a personal ring and the lyrics are heartfelt. Caraway touches the soul with songs such as “My Heart is Set on Gloryland, If I Could Tell how I Felt About Jesus, Life Got in My Way” and others.

Caraway is proud of the new CD and hopes that it will reach out to those who listen to it.

“I hope they find the message in the songs and it will change a life,” he said.

The CDs can be purchased from Caraway or when he sings at church events around the area.

To book the Caraway duo for a church event you can call 304-235-6553. If you are interested in buying a CD you can call the same number.
