9-10 all-star tourney begins Saturday in Mullens

The second leg of the summer Little League all-star baseball tournaments are scheduled to begin Saturday in Mullens with the 9-10-year-old District 2 tourney.
Seven teams are scheduled to compete in the tournament.
Logan County will be represented by two teams — Man and Chapmanville.
The tourney is divided into two pools.
There are four teams in Pool A — Madison, Chapmanville, Mullens and Man. Three teams — Tug Valley, Welch and Pineville — are in Pool B.
Action is slated to begin on Saturday at 10 a.m. as Chapmanville is set to face off with Madison. The noon game has Mullens and Man squaring off. Then at 2 p.m., Tug Valley takes on Welch in a first-round Pool B game.
Three more games are scheduled to be played on Sunday beginning with the Tug Valley-Pineville contest at 1 p.m. Then at 3 p.m., Chapmanville takes on Man in an all-Logan County matchup. At 5 p.m.., Mullens and Madison are set to play each other.
The tournament continues on Monday with the Man-Madison game at 6 p.m. The nightcap at 8 p.m. has Welch taking on Pineville.
On Tuesday night, Mullens plays Chapmanville at 6 p.m.
Semifinal games are set for Wednesday, July 3 as the Pool A winner takes on the Pool B runner-up at 6 p.m. and the Pool B winner plays the Pool A runner-up at 8 p.m.
The winners of the two semifinal games are then slated to meet on Friday, July 5 at 7 p.m. in the championship game. No games are scheduled to be played on the Fourth of July holiday.
* The 7-8-year-old Coach Pitch all-star tourney is slated to conclude this weekend.
Two quarterfinal games were scheduled to be played on Thursday night at Chapmanville’s Tracy Vickers Field. Then on Friday night at 6 and 8, respectively, the two semifinal contests are set to be played, also weather permitting.
The District 2 championship game is set for Saturday at Chapmanville.
* The 11-12-year-old District 2 Little League tourney is scheduled to begin on July 6 in Madison.
