CHAPMANVILLE – The Man Little Leaguers took care of business on Friday night in the 7-8-year-old Coach Pitch quarterfinals against Madison at Chapmanville’s Tracy Vickers Field.

Man pounded out 25 hits, ran the bases very aggressively and never looked back in posting a 22-3 blowout victory over the Madison No. 2 team.

The victory moved Man (3-0) into one of the two District 2 semifinals on Saturday night against host Chapmanville (3-0) in an all-Logan County contest.

The winner of the game moved on to Sunday’s 5 p.m. District 2 championship game, assuring there be at least one county team in the final.

Friday night’s other quarterfinal pitted Matewan (2-1) against the Madison No. 1 team (2-0). The winner advanced to Saturday night’s other semifinal against Pineville (3-0). Pineville closed out pool play on Wednesday night with a 19-6 win over Welch. All games on Thursday night were rained out and moved to Friday.

Man made quick work of Madison on Friday night, leading 8-3 after one inning of play and then scoring six in the top of the second and five in the third to make it 19-3. Madison was held scoreless in both innings.

Man then tacked on three more runs in the top of the fourth.

Madison was then retired in the last half of the fourth and the game was called due to the mercy rule. With only two more at-bats and a nine-run-per-inning limit there was no way Madison could catch up.

The Man All-Stars had several players who stepped up big at the plate.

Jordan Adams and Jacob Walls were each 4-for-4 with inside-the-park homers. Adams added two doubles and a triple. Walls also tripled. Walls had four RBI and Adams had three.

Leadoff man Diezel Cook was also 4-for-4 with four singles.

Shortstop Jeremiah Harless went 4-for-4 at the plate as well for Man with a double and three RBI.

Colton Miller had four hits, too, and drove in a run.

Man pitcher Drake Veres had two hits and an RBI. James Scites was 2-for-2 with two RBI, while catcher John McCoy was 3-for-3 with three singles and three RBI.

Jaylen Brumfield added at hit off the bench for Man. Jace Adkins had one RBI.

Madison was held to six hits for the game – one each by Sam Cook, Austin Light, Jordan Smith, Jace Berry, Drake Levo and Easton Fowler.

Madison scored its only three runs of the game in the bottom of the first inning as Cook, Light and Smith singled and all scored on a Man error.
